Researching (with) Social Media: A Reading Group
The aim of this reading group is to bring together staff and students across disciplines to explore findings and methods of research involving social media. The reading group will cover a range of methodological and topical themes, including activism, advocacy, surveillance, big data, ethics, journalism, accountability, and pluralism. Each month, we will meet to discuss a reading with its author, who will begin the meeting with a short presentation on the research’s methodology. The reading group, which is funded by the ESRC and co-convened by Ella McPherson from Sociology/CGHR and Anne Alexander from the Cambridge Digital Humanities Network, will be open in the first instance to staff and PhD students, with remaining places allocated to MPhil students.
